2nd Alpha 2 Duty @ 2:41 AM
Alpha 2 duty: 7th Oct 06 Vision Weekend _______________________________________
Kor debriefed me last nite... was 1.57am when he called me and we chatted for 30min++
Been so long eversince I last chat with him on the phone and for so long... even in real life... well we are all busy people.. at least for him hehe :)
Brief intro of what happened that day.
We supposed to have 8 ushers reporting to us, but last minute 2 can'r make it, 1 will be very very late as she's bring her mum to church. And I start panicking of what to do as there's not enough ushers. 3 trainees came along and offer little help :) Thank God for that :)
When door open till svc about to starts... Arena was very empty as alot of migrations... Thank God everything turn out well with my Terraces all filled and 3 loopholes in Arena.
Good job everyone :)
Few points that I noted down from the debrief...
1) I must learn to speak from my heart, not my mind...
When I speak from my mind, I only speak what my mind can content, when I speak with my heart, I can speak of everything, longer conversation with people. I admit, I have a poor memory, thus I had better learn to speak from my heart.
Lord, guard and lead my heart, that whatever that I speak, will be from a sincere heart.
2) Don't be stress
By doing so, I will end up affecting the people serving with me. The atmosphere of the hall will be change. Which defeated the purpose of what an usher suppose to do.
Ushers not only usher in the people, ensuring everyone got a seat, but also to usher in the presence of God, to prepare a place for people to enter His presence!
Kor was telling me, is good to usher with him hor, cos not stress... I agree haha... cos when I was under other leaders, feel so stress when I see them walking towards me, stime I will avoid seeing them while running the zone... bad of me... shld be the one supporting my leaders, yet end up be the one running away... Can't blame if ever 1 day I can't find my ushers... cos I reap whatever I sow haax.
3a) Change my mindset & keep challenging myself & people serving with me
Kor never fail to remind me what makes a leader different, is not by the title, tag etc, but the way we see, think, act, not just for ourself but for people under us and of cause the way we present ourself.
Leader is someone who go beyond, infront of others, to have clearer picture thus able to plan the next step.
When we were back in JW, the standard/quality of the usher was much much higher, but why when we move over to Expo, we dropped, more relax? Alpha is similar to South back then, if we can handle it with minimun manpower, why can't now?
We got to keep changing (upgarding of cause) our mindset and keep challanging ourselves
3b) Change the way I look at things
Learn to see the effort ushers ae putting in, always look at both side of the situation rather than just the bad one, which i always do... bad of me... Got to start encouraging my ushers and praise them when they did a great job! Yeah
4) Don't take things for granted
Was holding a listening set as Alpha 2, yet I never pay attention to what they communicate over the set... Like what sis Esther debriefed us, even though the msg may not be for us, but who knows the next 1 is? So must be always prepared!
I shan't take it for granted, shall practise my listening, and be sharp over the net. You won't know when's the next time I'm going to hold it again...
I really really enjoy serving and talking to him even in personal life, he always bring forth a revelation that moved to the next level, though bits by bits, I really appreciate all the things he had taught me, I shall keep improving till the day I can be like him teaching and impacting what I had to younger ushers! Yeah!
Right now I look forward to the next duty, hope I will be able to serve God in a better state and learn more and newer things :)
